Faculty FAQs

  • Is there a cost for students?

No. It’s free to join, create a profile, and become eligible for jobs.

  • Do students need certifications?

Students working through Truly Care typically do NOT need formal certifications. California requires certifications for certain personal care services, but companionship services and respite care do not require Home Health Aide or Home Care Aide certification.

Truly Care operates as a marketplace connecting families with students for non-medical support—including companionship, temporary supervision, and respite services that provide valuable caregiving experience without requiring medical training.

  • How flexible are the jobs?

Very. Students set their hours and rate, and accept only the jobs that fit their schedule.

  • Is this safe and vetted?

Trust is at our core. We require two professional references from every care provider and families conduct a background check at the point of hire. We encourage families to cover the cost of the background check so care providers do not need to pay for anything. It usually costs between $25-$50.

  • Can I share this with my department?

Absolutely! Please download and post our one-page flyer here.
